The Artist's Way Book Club
The Artists Way Book Club
We are just finishing up our first Book Club at STEAM Central. This book club we read The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron from January to March 2026. The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron is all about promoting creativity. The Artist's Way teaches that each of us is an artist and that each of us is creative. The book is structured in twelve weeks, using two vital tools of The Morning Pages and Artist Dates. Each of the twelve weeks have different themes and tasks that involve creative challenges.
The Morning Pages are a tool that is a daily practice of writing three pages of long form stream of consciousness writing. The Morning Pages are intended to be written as soon as you wake up, and The Morning Pages do not need to be well written. The goal is to fill three pages any way, and get your ideas onto the paper.
Artist Dates are a tool that is done once each week. An Artist Date is a play date with your inner artist child. An Artist Date is two hours that you spend by yourself doing something fun and playful. An Artist Date can be doing one of your hobbies, drawing, painting, visiting a museum, visiting botanical gardens, going to the roller rink, etc. There are many possibilities.
We are so proud of the progress and positive changes each member of our book club have made! One of our book club members is painting for the first time in years. A book club member is trying new things, including things they would have been too afraid to the year before. Another member is feeling more self confident, being more self accepting, acting more kind to herself and feeling more gratitude. Book club members are doing more creative projects and taking them seriously. These are amazing positive changes!
We are looking forward to celebrating The Artist's Way Book Club at Best Cellar Book Bar on Monday March 30 at 5pm. Feel free to join us for our celebration, whether or not you've read The Artist's Way. If you haven't read The Artist's Way, we'd highly recommend it.
We look forward to doing more Book Clubs in the near future. What books would you recommend for future book clubs? Are there any non-fiction books you'd recommend for future book clubs? Would you be interested in joining an Artist's Way Book Club?
